Saju guideSaju compatibility (gunghap)
Why Korean couples, and K-drama characters, compare birth charts before things get serious.
What gunghap is
Gunghap (궁합) is the compatibility side of Saju. Two people's charts are laid next to each other to see how they fit: where they pull together, where they clash, and what each one brings that the other is missing. In Korea it comes up before dating seriously, before marriage, and sometimes just for fun with friends. K-dramas use it all the time, from a grandmother consulting a fortune teller to a couple sneaking a look at their match.
What gets compared
- Core signs. Your day stems can bond, clash, feed or check each other, or be the same element.
- Partner seats. The bottom of each day pillar is the spot for the person you live with. Two animals there can bond, team up in a trio, or clash.
- Missing elements. If one of you lacks an element and the other has plenty, that's one of the strongest signs of a good match.
- Overall balance. Two charts heavy in the same element tend to sprint together and burn out together.
A clash isn't a deal-breaker
Saju readers rarely call a match good or bad and leave it there. A clash usually means you see the same thing from opposite sides, which takes work but can make a strong team. A smooth match can still drift without effort. Gunghap is a conversation starter about how you two work, not a verdict.
Scoring everyone you know
K-Destiny turns gunghap into a score so you can compare. Add your crush, your friends, your family or your favorite idols, and the app scores each match and ranks who fits you best. Basic Saju and compatibility are free.
